Recently, we did a redesign on a construction clients’ brochure for their physical marketing efforts. This was the 3rd edition of the brochure, and on this one – we were able to come up with a design and photo choices that made it the best version yet.

It all starts with the cover of the brochure. The big thing to consider with something like a cover is what image is everyone going to like, and what image is going to summarize the company as a whole?

I pondered this for a while, and then it occurred to me that I should look at the data.

You see, the client has around 2.5k followers on Instagram – and his audience regularly tells us what they like the most.

I seemed to remember this one post we did for a reno in NOTL.

The photo carousel included a bunch of different images of a massive floor to ceiling accordion style door system. I knew the thing looked amazing, and their audience really gave it a lot of love.

The photos had more likes and interactions than usual – and I knew it was the clear winner.

So, for the cover of the brochure – I chose a photo of the outside of the home, with these massive doors fully opened, and then we added the client’s logo and information inside of the door opening.

And then on the back, we used an image of the opened door from the inside of the home. It looks so epic.

By deciding to go and look at what the audience really loved, I was able to have it inform my decision regarding the selection making process – and the result is stunning.

I continued this method of photo selections and chose images that I could recall the client’s audience had a lot of positive feedback on.

Now, for yourself – this can be applied to any endeavour you’re embarking on. I used the same method when we were choosing an image for their massive new branding backdrop they’re having made.

I chose 10 of their audience’s fav photos – and sent them over for them to then choose their favourite.

If you’re going through a brochure design, or a website revamp – use this method if you’re rather active on socials.

Your audience will tell you pretty quickly what their favourite projects of yours are.

And then, even further than that – use their feedback to inform the content you continue to share with them. It will set you ahead by miles and miles. This is why you should be using social media interactions for data.

If you need a hand with any of this, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

To Your Success,
