Social media is a virtual reality. It’s something online, outside of the real world – but it is a social thing. And this is why you need to treat your social media accounts like communities.

As far as marketing your business goes, social media acts the same as maybe hyperlinking different businesses to your website and generating good, healthy SEO.

By being present all over the feeds of multiple other accounts in your industry, you’re effectively spreading yourself out across a vast landscape of potential eyeballs coming across your accounts.

So if you’re a construction company and you regularly work with the same electricians, framers, plumbers and interior designers – make sure to be active in your collaborations with them.

This means commenting on their stuff and liking it. It means sharing their stories and accepting invites to post as a collaborator.

Every chance you get, put their logo all over your stuff – and in return they’ll usually do the same.

The effect this has is massive! What ends up happening is pretty cool. Individuals who are seeing the plumber’s posts start to notice your name popping up quite a bit. Then maybe the right person sees your name enough times.

Maybe they’re looking to have a reno done, and they saw a collaborative post you did on the plumber’s socials. Maybe they have a friend or a relative who is looking as well.

This is marketing.

This is powerful stuff. The idea is to spread your name and your branding across as many platforms and as many channels as possible.

This means being active in your content creation and distribution.

Now, of course – this is not the only strategy to use. This is not something that is going to be your saviour, but it is one small piece of the larger whole.

Spread yourself across socials, make physical marketing assets, wrap your work vehicles, send out flyers and rely on word of mouth.

Make your social accounts communities, and always have active conversations about yourself and your business.

Let me know if you’d like to chat more about any of this – it’s a great strategy to use, and the more you push it the more results you’ll see.

To Your Success,
