If you’ve started and built a business, then there’s no doubt that you’re a creative person. Building a company is just that – it’s creation. But as you get deeper and deeper into your endeavour, wouldn’t it be nice to have a helping hand?

I want you to think of your business like a rock band in the 70s.

It all started with you. You were a solo act. From there, you built out the lineup. It was you, then the bass player. You found a good drummer and another guitar player too. Sometimes you have a horn section hop in on some tunes.

You have a guy on keys from time to time as well.

All of these roles, they require an intricate connection to you – these members, they need you to be on top of sh*t to keep the train rolling.

But as time goes on, you’re starting to get noticed, you’re getting into booze and drugs and all the rest (well, if you were a rock band in the 70s), one thing becomes clear – you need a producer.

You need a Quincy Jones or a Rick Rubin – if 90s Hip Hop is more your vibe.

And what is a producer? A producer is simply a creative supervisor. They’re brought in to make sure that your vision gets from A to Z, and your vision is portrayed in the best light possible.

Hiring a creative to work with your business is just that. Now a creative comes in many forms. We’re photographers, videographers and filmmakers. We’re graphic designers and web designers and marketers.

We’re the key to your businesses success and I’ll tell you why: outside perspective – and this is why hiring a creative is the best thing you can do for your business.

A creative can see things that others can’t, because that’s our job – it’s who we are.

We can visualize all potentialities, and then collaborate with other creatives to bring a concept through to fruition.

As creatives, we’re commissioned to make specific things for businesses, yes. But we’re also there for the difficult conversations. Some of our interactions need to be more therapeutic.

And that brings me to my next benefit. We aren’t just there to create beautiful videos for you or take photos to help sell a product. We act as your therapist, as your collaborator, your co builder and consultant.

A creative mind is a massive asset in the business world, and the more of them you can have focused on the task at hand, the better off your business will be.

Myself, I’m a photographer, filmmaker and a writer. But my vast list of life experiences has allowed me to evolve into more of a well-rounded and useful co-conspirator to your success.

I work with my clients on levels that run deeper than just the mere surface. It’s my job to get to know my clients, and understand what drives them – and this is something I’ve always loved doing.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always enjoyed a good conversation. I’ve also always loved building and creating, and now I get to put those two together in a unique spin on marketing strategy.

I call it authentic marketing, and it’s something that every business can benefit from. It looks like this: I get to know you, I document who you are, I share it online with your growing audience, you increase your profits.

That’s all there is to it.

And best of all, there are infinite options when it comes to scope and strategy. We don’t need to start in any particular place and end in any other – everything in my working relationships is completely custom, and that’s something that I’m excited to offer new and current clients alike.

So, as your business continues to grow and evolve – remember to think like a rock band from the 70s. Know that you can’t do it all on your own.

Distractions will arise, and you need a producer to make sure your original vision gets pushed through to completion. You need an unbiased and objective set of eyes and ears to get the job done right.

And the job of building your business, it’s best done in collaboration with creatives who care.

To Your Success,

Jay Ashcroft
